Karl Schleunes


Karl Albert Schleunes is an American historian of the Holocaust and the German Empire. He is a professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Schleunes obtained his Bachelor in 1959 at Lakeland College, and his Master's at the University of Minnesota in 1961, where he also received his Ph.D. in 1966. From 1965 to 1971 he taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Since then he is at the UNCG, where he was in 1999 guest lecturer at the Kaplan Centre of the University of Cape Town.
Karl Schleunes is the son of Henry Schleunes and Adelia Eickoff of Schleswig, Wisconsin. In August 1964, he married Brenda Jean Pursel, founder and artistic director of the Touring Theatre of North Carolina.
