Junaid Babunagari


Junaid Babunagari is a Bangladeshi Hadith scholar. He served as the assistant director of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Hathazari, and secretary general
of Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh. On 17 June 2020, Babunagari was relieved of duty of assistant director by the Shura committee of Madrasha, which said he was relieved because of his illness. But Babunagari said he was removed and he himself did not want to resign.

Early life and education

Junaid Babunagari was born in 1955 in Babunagar village of Fatikchhari Upazila, Chittagong. Aged five, he entered Al-Jamiatul Islamiah Azizul Uloom Babunagar. He then spent ten years at Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam. At the age of 20, he was admitted to Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia of Pakistan. Junaid Babunagari studied there four years. He was taught by the world's famous religious leaders of Darul 'Uloom Karachi and gained knowledge about hadith, tafsir and fiqh.

Career

Aged 24 he began teaching at Al-Jamiatul Islamiah Azizul Uloom Babunagar. Afterwards he left Babunagar Madrasah for joining Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam. When Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh was formed on 19 January 2010, he became its secretary general. He serves as a teacher of ahadith and assistant director of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam.
