Juanita Frances


Juanita Frances, née Juanita Frances Lemont, married name Juanita Frances Schlesinger was a feminist activist and organizer with the Married Women's Association.

Life

Born in Australia, where she trained as a nurse, she became involved with the Six Point Group after arrival in England. She was instrumental in setting up the Married Women's Association in 1938, and later served as its president.
In 1939 she divorced her husband, a banker named Schlesinger. The London house which he had built became the MWA's official headquarters.
