Jost Trier
Jost Trier was a German Germanic linguist and Medievalist.
Since 1932, Jost Trier taught as a professor at Münster University where he developed the lexical field theory. From 1933, Trier was a member of the Nazi party. He viewed German philology in the terms of Nazi ideology. This, however, proved no obstacle to a post-war career in Western Germany. In 1968 Trier was awarded the prestigious Konrad-Duden-Preis.
