Josh Berger


Joshua A. Berger is an American-born British business executive. He was a president and managing director at Warner Bros. Entertainment UK, Ireland and Spain and oversees Warner Bros.’ business activities in the three territories including Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Home Video, Warner Bros. International Television, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Josh is also President of Harry Potter Global Franchise Development, leading Warner Bros.’ expanded creative partnership with J.K. Rowling. As the chief business contact for all J.K. Rowling initiatives, Josh oversees the continuing expansion of the franchise, which includes the Fantastic Beasts film series, the visitor attraction Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, theme parks in Orlando, Japan and Hollywood, a suite of digital services and products, as well as the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which opened in London’s West End in July 2016 and on Broadway, New York in March 2018.
Josh became Chairman of the British Film Institute in 2016, having been a BFI Governor since 2011.

Biography and career

A 28-year veteran of Warner Bros., Josh has lived and worked in the UK for over 20 years and has been a British citizen since July 2011. As well as his role as Chairman of the BFI, he is also a Member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the Creative Industries Council and the British Screen Advisory Council; a Council Member of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art ; a Director of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; and the Chair Emeritus of Chickenshed Theatre Trust. He was appointed a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to the UK’s creative industries.
Josh is a graduate of Harvard College and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has lived in the US, the UK, Spain, France and Italy, and speaks French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
