Joseph Blowick

Joseph Blowick was an Irish politician. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 1943 as a Clann na Talmhan Teachta Dála for Mayo South. He succeeded Michael Donnellan as leader of the party in 1944. Blowick was appointed to the Cabinet in the two Inter-Party governments, serving under John A. Costello as Minister for Lands on both occasions. Blowick was elected to Dáil Éireann at every election until 1965 when he retired from politics.
He had one sister and two brothers, both of whom became priests: his brother Stephen became a priest serving in Mayo, and his brother Fr. John Blowick founded the Maynooth Mission to China.
