Josef Schwendemann


Vizefeldwebel Josef Schwendemann was a World War I flying ace credited with 17 aerial victories.
Initially serving in the trenches and twice being wounded, Schwendemann transferred to the Air force in June 1916. He served with Schutzstaffel 14 from February 1917 before learning to fly and being posted to Jasta 41 in September.
Jasta 41 was the only Jasta covering the eastern part of the Lorraine-Alsace front from August to December 1917.
