John Tillman (policy)
John Tillman is the chairman and CEO of the Illinois Policy Institute, a nonprofit think tank that supports limited government and free-market principles. Tillman has served as the group's CEO since 2007. He is also the co-founder and chairman of the Liberty Justice Center.
In 2011, Tillman won the Roe Award from the State Policy Network. The annual award “pays tribute to those in the state public policy movement whose achievements have greatly advanced the free market philosophy.”
Before joining IPI, Tillman held roles with Americans for Limited Government and the Sam Adams Alliance. He serves on the board of the National Taxpayers Union.
Tillman became head of IPI in 2007, replacing IPI's original founder. IPI is the largest state-based think tank in the U.S.
Tillman earned a bachelor's degree in business in 1983 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
