John Holdeman
John Holdeman was the founder of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, also known as the Holdeman Church, a conservative Mennonite denomination that currently has 26,000 members mostly in the United States and Canada.
Born in Wayne County, Ohio, Holdeman began preaching in 1858. He drew a large following in Kansas and preached across the United States and Canada throughout his lifetime. He convinced many members of another Mennonite denomination the Kleine Gemeinde to join his "true church" in 1881. Holdeman died in 1900 at the age of 68.
