John Condron


John Condron CBE is a businessman, and a former chief executive of Yell, who largely oversaw its collapse in 2009.

Early life

He studied economics at Queen's University Belfast.

Career

BT

He started working for BT in 1973.

Yell

He joined Yell Group in 1980. He became chief executive of Yell Group. It bought Yellow Book USA in 1999. BT sold Yellow Pages in 2001. Yell Group was in the FTSE 100 Index. He became a chairman of the Directory Publishers' Association. In 2008 he was paid £885,000.

Collapse of Yell

In 2007 the share price of Yell was 600p; in early 2009 it was 11p. He left Yell Group on 31 December 2010.

Personal life

He was appointed a CBE in the 2008 New Year Honours.
