Janna van der Weg
Janna Rinske “Janne” van der Weg was a Dutch speed skater.
On 27 January 1917, Van der Weg was the first female ever who finished the Elfstedentocht; the most prestigious speed skating race and tour over 200 km on natural ice in the Netherlands. This was during the third edition of the tour. Jikke Gaastra was the first female in 1912 who ever started the tour, but she didn’t finish. Afterwards, Van der Weg received an official ceremony at the municipal theater De Harmonie in Leeuwarden.
In the Amsterdam borough Amsterdam-West was a street named after here in 2016, the “Janna van der Weglaan”.
Van der Weg worked as a house servant.
