Jani Bäckman


Jani Bäckman is a Finnish football player currently playing for HIFK.

Career

He began his career with IF Sibbo-Vargarna and joined in 2004 to Klubi-04, with the team played on 28 April 2007 his one and only game in the Ykkönen against RoPS on 28 April 2007. Bäckman was than transferred to HJK in 2006 here played on youth side, than in January 2007 was promoted to the senior side from HJK.
After one year with HJK and only professional game for Helsinki in the Finnish Cup moved to FC Honka for 200 000 €, played 16 games for the club, eleven games in the Veikkausliiga.
Than Bäckman was loaned out from FC Honka on 12 March 2009 between August 2009 to FC Haka.
On 4 November 2009 FF Jaro signed Bäckman for free. He signed one year long contract including option for year more.
On 1 March 2017, Bäckman had to play as a goalkeeper in a Finnish Cup match against HJK after HIFK goalkeeper Carljohan Eriksson was sent off in the 86th minute causing a penalty kick. Bäckman saved the penalty.
