Jang Ki-yong is a South Korean actor and model. He is best known for his roles in the television seriesConfession Couple, My Mister, Come and Hug Me, Kill It and .
Early life
Jang Ki-yong was born on August 7, 1992 in Ulsan, South Korea. He grew up with his parents and older brother in Ulsan and completed his tertiary education at Seokyeong University, majoring in Model Acting.
Career
2012–2016: Modelling and Acting debut
Jang began his career as a model in 2012 at the 2012 S/S General Idea Collection Show during Seoul Fashion Week. From then onward Jang participated in many fashion shows and pictorials. Jang went on to winning the Fashion Model Award at the 2014 Asian Model Awards ceremony in January 2014. The same year, he debuted as an actor through SBS drama It's Okay, That's Love, also starring labelmate Lee Sung-kyung. Later that year he was cast in the dramas The Greatest Marriage and Schoolgirl Detectives.
2017–present: Rising popularity
In 2017, he gained popularity with his supporting character in Confession Couple as Jang Na-ra's college senior. In 2018, Jang gained further recognition with his role as a cold-hearted loan shark in the drama My Mister. Jang was cast alongside Jin Ki Joo in his first leading role in the melodramaCome and Hug Me, taking on the role of a detective who has a fated relationship with his childhood friend. His performance in the drama earned him the Best New Actor award in television at the Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2019, Jang was cast in OCN's action dramaKill It, playing a veterinarian by day and heartless killer at night. The same year, he was cast in the romance drama as a CEO and genius composer. Jang made his big screen debut in the crime action filmBad Guys, based on the OCN drama of the same name, which premiered in September 2019. In 2020, Jang is set to star in the romantic comedy filmSweet and Sour alongside Chae Soo-bin and Krystal Jung. The same year Jang was cast in the mystery romance drama Born Again alongside Lee Soo-hyuk and Jin Se-yeon.
