There were 209 households, out of which 17.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.7% were married couples living together, 11.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.0% were non-families. 40.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.94 and the average family size was 2.58. In the town, the population was spread out, with 15.0% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 23.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.7 males. Education
Jane Lew used to have a high school in operation from 1912 until 1962, when it consolidated with another local school to make the Lewis County School District. Jane Lew High also won a state boys basketball championship in 1922.
