James Walker (sportsman)


James George Walker was a Scottish rugby football player and cricket player. He was the brother of Archibald Walker who was also capped for Scotland.
Walker was born in Tradeston, Glasgow. He was educated at Loretto School and Trinity College, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1879, and graduated B.A. in 1883. He played first-class cricket for Oxford University and Middlesex, and represented the Scotland national cricket team. At rugby, was capped twice for between 1882-83. He also played for West of Scotland FC.
After graduating at Oxford, Walker studied law and was called to the bar at the Inner Temple in 1886. He died in Nether Auchendrane, near Ayr, Scotland.
