Jamal Kochangadi


Jamal Kochangadi is an Indian writer, script writer, lyricist and music journalist who was born to parents named Late P.A.Zainuddhin Naina and Late Sulekha on 30 April 1944 in Kochangadi, Ernakulam district of Kerala.,
He done his schooling in Kochangadi Aliya School, Mattancherry HE HMMHS. After school education, in 1963 he joined Kerala Nadam an evening newspaper and then became the Chief Editor of Bharatharajyam Evening Newspaper. Then he worked in a couple of small newspapers in Kochi like Yuva Keralam, Jai Hind, Cochin Express and a weekly named Film Nadam. From 1980 onwards he took seat for prominent position in news dailies like League Times, Madhyamam, Thejus etc. From 1988 to 2018 he was in charge of the Special Edition of newspapers. He gave significant contribution to cultural journalism by being the editor of Varadya Madhyamam and Thejus Sunday Edition.
His short story Chappa become a feature directed by P. A. Backer film with the same title released in 1982 won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam
