Jack Holland (politician)
John Joseph "Jack" Holland was an Australian politician.
Holland was born in Carlton to police officer Thomas Holland and Johanna Quigley. He worked as a fitter and postal mechanic and, on 18 July 1908, married Agnes Mary Ryan, with whom he had seven children.
In 1925, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as the Labor member for Flemington. He was also president and secretary of the local branch of the Labor Party, served on the state executive, and was president of the Victorian Labor Party from 1935 to 1936. In September 1943, he briefly served as Minister of Public Works. In 1945, the electorate of Flemington was abolished, and he moved to the Footscray electorate, but returned to Flemington when it was re-created in 1955. He died at Kensington later that year and was succeeded by his son Kevin.
