Irene Gavala


Irene Gavala, also Irene Gavala-Chardalia is a Greek broadcast and radio director.
She graduated from Law School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She started her work at ERT in 1976. Between 1980 and 1995 she worked as Head of the Greek delegation to the Eurovision Song Contest. Between 1984 and 1995 Gavala was Head of ERT International Relations Dept. In 2002 she was a member of the international jury of the International Prize for the best Mediterranean Doc and Reportage. Further Gavala worked as a Deputy Director of Public and International Relations, Chief of International Co-productions, Programme Consultant and finally as General Manager of ERT World. Actually she worked at the Greek Poets radio.
Irene Gavala has been awarded the title Chevalier de l’ Ordre National du Merite by the French government. She is also President and voted member in committees and boards of directors in international audiovisual Festivals and Fora, Chief Coordinator in important television shows and a Communications and PR volunteer in Strofi NGO.
