Several reviews have been published.Mechanism
The Ireland–Claisen rearrangement is a type of Claisen rearrangement. The mechanism is therefore a concerted sigmatropic rearrangement|-sigmatropic rearrangement which according to the Woodward–Hoffmann rules show a concerted, suprafacial, pericyclic reaction pathway.
