Heo Gi was a 23rd descendant of Heo Hwang-ok and was dispatched to Tang dynasty as an ambassador of Silla. Heo Hwang-ok was a queen of Satavahana dynasty and an empress of Suro of Geumgwan Gaya who was a first king of Gaya confederacy. Lee clan, a surname of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, was bestowed to Heo Gi because Heo Gi helped Emperor Xuanzong of Tang evacuate when An Lushan Rebellion happened. When Lee Heo Gi returned to Silla, Gyeongdeok of Silla awarded Prince of Soseong to Lee Heo Gi. Then,, a 10th descendant of Lee Heo Gi, began Incheon Lee clan.
