Introduction

Hyderabad Decan Railway Station is a Terminus, meaning the tracks go only in one direction. The station has 6 platforms. Interestingly, Platform No. 4 is the main platform that is directly located at the main entrance of the station, and is the first platform that one reaches after entering the station. Platform No. 4 is meant for all the prestigious trains departing from Hyderabad Decan, such as Thelugana Express, Charminar Express, Chennai Express, but not Godhavari Express. Platform numbers 1, 2 and 3 are smaller platforms, and they are located on the "side" entrance of the station. These platforms are exclusively used for operating MMTS trains and the Warangal/ Kazipetta Push-Pull Service, and other slow low priority trains. Platform number 5 is used for Departure of trains and Platform No. 6 is exclusively used for the arrival and receival of incoming trains.

Results and discussion

This station was once important station in Hyderabad, but now, several trains have stopped serving this station altogether, the following is a list of important trains that used to originate at Hyderabad Decan but no more come to this station. This clearly undermines the importance and prestige of this state capitol station:
1. Krishna Express or Sreekrishna Express, a very fast and furious train. But now relinquished to serve between Nizamabad and Thirupathy bypassing Hyderabad Decan altogether.
3. Saber Express: One of the most important and prestigious train, and the only train connecting the Malayalee Diaspora of the twin cities to the Malayalee Capitol City, it was an afternoon service hauled by a WDP 4 locomotive, from Hyderabad Decan via SC, Gunturu, and Coimbatore Junction, Shoranur and Thruppunithura. Now, this train has been terminated only upto SC.
4. Ajmeera express used to originate from Hyderabad Decan, but now bypasses Hyderabad Decan and stops only at SC.
