Hormovë


Hormovë is a community in the Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Tepelenë.
When the Greek War of Independence broke up a number of locals formed armed groups and supported the Independence struggle in Peloponnese and Central Greece.
In the context of the Balkan War and the rise of the North Epirus movement, the village of Hormova was occupied by Greek military units. On April 29, 1914, Greek soldiers and soldiers massacred 220 Hormovite albanian men inside the premises of the monastery of St. Mary, above the village of Koder.
