Honor (brand)
Honor is a smartphone brand owned by Huawei Technologies. As part of the Huawei Consumer Business Group's dual-brand strategy, Honor provides smartphone handsets targeting young consumers but has released tablet computers and wearable technology as well.
As of 2016, George Zhao serves as global president of Honor, and Eva Wimmers serves as the president of the brand in Europe and is the global VP.
History and business model
Founded in 2013, Honor's line of cost-effective smartphones allows Huawei to compete with mid-range online smartphone brands in China and globally. As of 2016, Honor sells its products mainly online through its own sites as well as via third-party online retailers. Some Honor products are available to purchase at stores in select markets. Honor offers smartphones at lower prices because the company saves money by operating online. Fans who join the "HONOR Club" receive further product discounts.
Design Ethos
According to phoneArena, Honor smartphones are visually distinctive because of their "hue-shifting glass backs," offering users "beautiful gradients with every viewing angle."The Dynamic Holographic Design of the HONOR 20 Series improves on this concept, which Honor president George Zhao told Xinhua News Agency in May 2019: "At HONOR, we follow the ethos 'Always Better' in everything we do." An example might be the wallpaper supplied for the Honor Band wearables, which in English-language version are available with a choice of dial designs including an attractive series of twelve showing the principal stars and a symbolic representation of the twelve signs of the zodiac, with three-letter identifying acronyms.

Honor made its debut in the United States with the release of the Huawei Honor 5X at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2016. Initially available for online purchase only, the Huawei Honor 5X was later made available at select brick-and-mortar stores.

The Honor 8 was also released in 2016.

In January 2019, the Honor 10 Lite was launched with a 24MP AI front camera, offering users the perfect selfie. The HONOR View 20 was launched the same month alongside a new brand campaign designed to improve brand awareness and perception.
In May 2019, the Honor 20 Series was released, which won three awards from Android Authority, Android Police, and Android Headline, with the Verge describing the Honor 20 Pro as “flagship specs with a midrange price.”
In October 2019, the Honor 9X series was released, which features a triple-lens rear camera system — complete with a 48MP primary sensor — as well as a pop-up selfie camera that eliminates the need for a display notch.
In December 2019, the Honor V30 series was released, which is the final Honor flagships of 2019, and they have a lot going for them, including 5G support, high-end power, and triple-lens rear cameras.
On 24th February, 2020, Honor launched the View 30 Pro and 9X Pro globally. The HONOR View 30 Pro is the international branding of the Honor V30 Pro that launched in China last year. The device features a 6.57-inch FHD+ LCD with dual-hole punch cutouts for the 32MP and 8MP front cameras.
The HONOR 9X Pro features a 6.59-inch display, the Kirin 810 processor, 6GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. The device features three rear cameras: 48MP, 8MP wide-angle, and 2MP depth sensor. The front 16MP camera is housed in a pop-up mechanism, creating very slim bezels on the front of the phone.
On 15th April, 2020, Honor completed its Chinese launch of the new HONOR 30 series of smartphones, adding three new devices to its premium to flagship line-up of devices. All the new phones are 5G capable and inherit the leading edge custom RYYB camera sensors. HONOR 30 is powered by the new Kirin 985 chipset, making this the first public showing of the new silicon. The HONOR 30 Pro and Pro+ are powered by the well-known Kirin 990 5G chipset. The HONOR 30 Pro and Pro+ share a similar form-factor to the HONOR 30, but differ in terms of the industrial design, most notably because of the usage of a curved screen.
