Holloway Beach, Queensland


Holloway Beach is a coastal town in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. It is within the suburb of Holloways Beach.

History

The town takes its name from Richard Holloway, a local farmer, owner of Portions 67V and 68V in the Parish of Smithfield, around 1926.
The town was named Holloway by the Queensland Surveyor-General on 16 April 1951, but it was changed to Holloway Beach on 1 April 1971 by the Queensland Place Names Board.
Holloway's Beach State School opened on 23 May 1955 and closed on 13 June 1966.
