Hof (electoral district)

Hof is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. One of forty five districts in Bavaria, it covers the town of Hof, the district of Hof and the Wunsiedel district.
The constituency was created for the 1949 election, the first election in West Germany after World War II. After its creation, most of the early elections in the district were won by the Social Democratic Party of Germany. However the Christian Social Union won the constituency at the 1983 election and, apart from a loss to the SPD at the 1998 election, have held the district since then.
The current representative is Hans-Peter Friedrich of the CSU, a former Federal Minister of the Interior and Federal Minister for food and agriculture.
