Hit Music Radio


Hit Music Radio formerly TYP radio was an Internet radio station which broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week playing a variety of music from the 1970s to the present day.
Hit Music Radio aired from July 2003 until July 2009 when it closed down due to lack of funding. There were plans for the radio station to relaunch in the summer of 2010.
The managing director of the station is Wayne Cubitt. Its main studios are based in the city of Sheffield, in the district of South Yorkshire.
While Hit Music Radio was ostensibly aimed at all ages, it was clear from the musical policy of the station that the average age of the listener is 25+. The station plays music from the 1970s to current chart hits, predominantly ballads, love songs and middle of the road rock and pop.

Presenters

Former full-time presenters included, Chris Marsden, Dan Hall, Gregg Upwards, Gav Richards, Richie Pearson, Neil Wilkinson, former Programme Director Brian Day and Wayne Cubitt.
Hit Music Radio's jingles were made by and included custom made jingles by actor Ruthie Stephens.

History Timeline

July 2000 - Managing Director, Wayne Cubitt the founder of Hit Music Radio first launched Super FM and was the first name of the radio station.
July 2001 - Name changed to TYP Radio.
December 2002 - Overwhelmed by the number of people logging, a new server had to be bought to cope with the number of people listening.
July 2003 - Name changed to Hit Music Radio and a new website launched.
August 2006 - New Management Team appointed.
August 2007 - Programme Director appointed.
March 2008 - HMR Media Group formed.
July 2009 - Hit Music Radio closes down due to lack of funding.
April 2011 - Temporary Website Launched.
July 2011 - Hit Music Radio Launches Test Transmission Streams from their website.
September 2011 - New website launched.
December 2011 - Hit Music Radio announces that a brand new website is launching soon and test transmissions now feature future presenters announcing that Hit Music Radio are applying for an FM Licence in the UK.

Future

Transmissions from Hit Music Radios website now states that they are re-launching with a new website very soon, future presenters can be heard announcing that they are applying for a 28 Day RSL for Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, England soon.
