Henry Kimbro


Henry Allen Kimbro, nicknamed "Jimbo", was an American Negro League outfielder in the late 1930s and 1940s. He played for the Washington Elite Giants, Baltimore Elite Giants, and the New York Black Yankees. He was considered a solid, and often underrated Negro League player.
Notable accomplishments include finishing third in batting average twice;.371 in 1946,.363 in 1947. He appeared in six East-West All-Star Games. He also won the batting title with a.346 average, and set a league record with 104 hits, playing for Havana in the Cuban Winter League during the 1947-48 season.
Kimbro once hit a home run out of Briggs Stadium in Detroit.
