Hedley Burrows
Hedley Robert Burrows was an Anglican cleric in the 20th century, who rose to the position of Dean of Hereford. His father and son were bishops.Life
He was educated at Charterhouse and New College, Oxford and was ordained in 1912. His first post was a curacy at St Peter's, Petersfield after which he was a temporary World War I Chaplain. Following this he was Priest in charge of St Columba's, Argyll, Domestic Chaplain to the Archbishop of York and Warden of the Dock Street Mission, Southampton. He then held incumbencies at Stoke Abbott and Portsea, Portsmouth. Later he was Rural Dean of Cleethorpes then Bournemouth. In 1943 he became Archdeacon of Winchester and four years later Dean of Hereford, a post he held until his retirement in 1961.
Burrows was the son of Leonard Burrows and became the son-in-law of Neville Lovett and father of Simon Burrows.
