Hayley Squires


Hayley Squires is an English actress and playwright, best known for her work in the Ken Loach film I, Daniel Blake. Squires has also appeared in Call the Midwife, Southcliffe, Complicit, Blood Cells, A Royal Night Out and Murder. Her first play, Vera Vera Vera, was produced by the Royal Court Theatre in 2012.
I, Daniel Blake won the Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival, Best British Film at the 2017 BAFTAs and was the Audience Award winner at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. Squires was nominated for Best Supporting Actress by BAFTA for her role of Katie.
From July to October 2017, Squires appeared in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at The Apollo Theatre in London's West End.

Early life

Born in Forest Hill, South London, as Hayley McGinty in 1988, Squires grew up with her mother, father and older brother.
She trained at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup and graduated in 2010 with BA Acting.
