Harish Bhimani


Harish Bhimani is a writer, anchor, voice-over artiste, on-screen person and documentary & corporate film maker. Recipient of the coveted President’s Medal in the National Film Awards 2016, in the category of voice overs / narration, he is the only anchor to have received a Gold Disc from HMV. He is better known as the voice of Samay, the narrator in the TV series Mahabharat, he is a veteran of some 24,000 recordings, he is credited with several iconic recordings. Considered the most recognizable spoken voice in the country, he is the leading voice in many light & sound shows, laser shows & now 3-D Projection Mapping shows at historical monuments across India, in Hindi & English, audio dictionaries, documentaries, corporate films, TV serials, feature films, TV & Radio commercials, games, music albums apart from hosting public events and ceremonies, since the 1980s. Media have variously described Harish Bhimani as ‘One of the Most Recognisable Voices of India’, ‘The Most-travelled Indian Compere’ and ‘A Writer with a Zing’.

Personal life

Tracing his roots to Jaisalmer-Rajasthan, thence to Mandvi, Kutch District - where a clock tower in his grandfather's name stands tall - and Kolkata, Harish was born in Mumbai. Fourth of five siblings, he studied at Bharda New High School, H.M.Public School, Elphinstone College, Mumbai, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, Nagpur and did an MBA from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Bombay University.
Active in all his chosen spaces of work, Harish lives in Mumbai with his wife Rekha - a voice artiste. They have two daughters, Aditi Bhosle, and Ruchi Bhimani - an executive producer in feature films and a documentary maker.

Career

Harish Bhimani started with TV news anchoring on Bombay TV; from narrating the Mahabharat to India’s ambitious text-to-speech eVenture - with some 22,000 recordings of commercials, corporates & documentaries in between & counting; compering at Madison Square Garden to the Royal Albert Hall, Sydney Opera House & Shrine Auditorium & writing Khandaan, Subah, Inkaar, Sukanya, Grahan... feature film 'ISIS-Enemies of Humanity' & 'Kashmir-the Ultimate Solution' to the legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar’s biography titled, ' In Search of Lata Mangeshkar, Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh ; and recording globally through his unique voice website.
He has narrated most of Sachin Shankar's ballets & anchored Ajit Sheth's literary events. Harish wrote & narrated a film on Guru Dutt - The Guru of Celluloid - in 2008 for Guru Dutt Films Pvt Ltd.],.
