HD 45350

HD 45350 is an 8th magnitude star located approximately 160 light-years away in the constellation of Auriga. It is a yellow subgiant, a Sun-like star that is finishing hydrogen fusion in its core. Although slightly cooler, it is brighter, although not much considering its subgiant status. However, the star is very old and will soon start to expand becoming finally a red giant.
The star HD 45350 is named Lucilinburhuc. The name was selected in the NameExoWorlds campaign by Luxembourg, during the 100th anniversary of the IAU. The Lucilinburhuc fortress was built in 963 by the founder of Luxembourg, Count Siegfried.

Planetary system

In January 2005, the discovery of a very eccentric extrasolar planet orbiting the star was announced by the California and Carnegie Planet Search team.
