Sponsors And Renaming

Goodwin Academy was previously rated Outstanding by Ofsted before dropping to Special Measures within three years. The SchoolsCompany Trust sponsored the school to help it improve and renamed it to SchoolsCompany Goodwin Academy from Castle Community College. However, due to internal failings at the Trust, the school became independent before shortly being sponsored by the Thinking Schools Academy Trust and renamed again to The Goodwin Academy.
