Glenn Keith Bidmead is a Sydney-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, performer and producer.
Biography
Early Years
Glenn Bidmead was born in Sydney and grew up in Mascot and Botany. He started playing the guitar at age nine and during his high school years performed in bands on weekends with his brother Paul, a drummer and vocalist.
Solo career
In 1998 while living and performing in Brisbane, he signed a recording and publishing contract with JWM and Roughcut Music's John Woodruff, manager of Savage Garden. Bidmead moved back to Sydney and later that year, his debut album "Seven Seconds" was produced by Charles Fisher and mixed in Los Angeles by Chris Lord-Alge. Bidmead's first single, "Find Love" was released by Warner Music in Australiain 1999, with music video directed by New York-based filmmaker Adolfo Doring In 2000, Bidmead released a second single "A World Away" through Roadshow/Warner Music. The album "Seven Seconds" is available on iTunes. Bidmead has released several independent recordings: solo albums, "Songs in Black and White", "Six Singles EP", "The Acoustic Sessions" EP, and "Last Chance Cafe E.P."
Lemonjuice
Most recently Glenn has formed the band Lemonjuice, and released his latest album, The Sound of Strawberry, a collection of melodic, anthemic and psychedelically tinged pop/rock gems. In your face vocals and dreamy harmonies make this a record that will take you back to when music was all. The album is available on iTunes, Amazon Music, Bandcamp, Spotify, and most other streaming platforms. Lemonjuice are lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Glenn Bidmead with Bill Risby, Tom Ruki and Dave Ferry/Paul Bidmead.
Songwriting Projects
Glenn Bidmead was also a founding member of the band Kerosene with songwriter/drummer Kere Buchanan. Kerosene's debut album, Art of Survival, was released in 2006. Glenn co-wrote six songs with Buchanan for his debut album "Starting Over" as well as singing lead vocals on two tracks, "Heartbreaker" and "Through The Tears". Buchanan and Bidmead have also co-written ten songs for Buchanan's second album, "Goodbye Yesterday". Glenn also sings lead vocals on two of those tracks, "Slippin' Away" & "Until I Found You". Glenn has also worked with Foreigner guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones in New York City, as well as other artists such as The Veronicas, Brooke McClymont and JTR. In March 2009, Bidmead became the lead singer and guitarist in Matt Finish with drummer and founding member John Prior and bass player Harry "The Doctor" Brus. He performed with them until November 2011. Glenn released the five track "Last Chance Cafe E.P." in 2012, which comprises four new original country tracks and an acoustic reworking of the Kerosene song, "Kerosene". Since 2013, Glenn has been writing and recording with Rob Prior under the project name "People Like That", with the release in 2019 of the first two albums of a trilogy, "Listen to the Light" and "Dancing With Infinity". Glenn is currently writing and recording for a new solo project, as well as the next Lemonjuice album.
