Ghetaldi


The Ghetaldi was a noble family of the Republic of Ragusa.

History

The Ghetaldi were said to have come from Taranto, in 940, at the same time as the Caboga.
In 1809, Ivan Ghetaldi sold some land on Pelješac. In 1847 they were given Austrian nobility.

Notable members

One of the family branches originated from Matej Ghetaldi and Maria Pozza di Zagorien ), who married Caterina Gondola, born October 12, 1709 and died December 26, 1787. and had two sons and two daughters, Fran and Šišmundo, Uršula and Marija; Fran was later adopted by his uncle Count Šišmundo Gondola in 1787. Fran inherited his uncle and used the surname Gundulić .
