Gheorghe Staicu


Gheorghe "Gigi" Staicu is a Romanian former professional footballer and manager. As a footballer, Staicu played for Steaua București and was considered the first player that was grew up only by "the red and blues".. fcsteaua.ro After retirement, Staicu started his manager career and was the manager of many Divizia A clubs, among them: Olimpia Satu Mare, Bihor Oradea, Universitatea Cluj or UM Timișoara. Staicu was also the assistant coach of Romania, in the spell of Ștefan Kovacs and was for years the manager of the olympic team.
In 2007, Staicu retired from football and since 2012 he is hospitalized in an asylum for the elderly. It seems, according to sources, that he would suffer from Alzheimer's disease.
