German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information


The German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information, abbreviated DIMDI, is a German organization responsible for medical information classification and management. It is a government Institute of the German Federal Ministry of Health and is located in Cologne, Germany.
The DIMDI publishes official medical classifications such as ICD-10-GM and OPS and maintains medical terminology dictionaries, thesauri, nomenclatures and catalogs that are important for health information exchange and other applications. DIMDI also develops and operates database-supported information systems for drugs and medical devices and is responsible for a program of health technology assessment. It also provides information intended for patients.
