Frisch Auf Göppingen


Turn- und Polizeisportgemeinschaft Frisch Auf Göppingen e.V. is a sports club from Göppingen, Germany. The club's men's handball team plays under the name FRISCH AUF! Göppingen in Handball-Bundesliga. Manager of FRISCH AUF! Göppingen Management & Marketing GmbH is Gerd Hofele. The clubs women's handball team Frisch Auf Frauen also plays in 1st German league.
The club came to fame when Bernhard Kempa and his brothers moved from Silesia to Göppingen in 1948 and started playing for the club. First as a player and later as coach, he led the club to most of its titles. Since 1972 – one year after Kempa left the club – Göppingen has not won the Championship again and spent the 1990s in the 2nd division. However in 2001, they were promoted to the Handball Bundesliga again.

The women's team of Frisch Auf Göppingen, also called Frisch Auf Frauen, play same as men's team, in the first league. The team played 2006–07 in Handball-Bundesliga Frauen the first time and currently again since 2008.
Coach of the team is Aleksandar Knežević, who formerly played for the men's team.

The arena ground of women's team is also same as of the men's team, EWS Arena.

In 2009–10 the team played international in Women's EHF Cup.
