Fred Berger (producer)


Fred Berger is an American film producer who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture for the 2016 musical La La Land, for which he also won the 2016 Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture.
In addition to La La Land, Berger served as a producer on the films The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Taking Chance., he is a partner at Automatik Entertainment alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. He is also a partner at another production company, Impostor Pictures. Berger is Jewish.
During the 89th Academy Awards, La La Land was incorrectly announced as the Academy Award for Best Picture winner. Berger was the final producer of the film to present his acceptance speech. As the film's fellow producer, Marc Platt, gave him the chance to speak, Berger declined at first but spoke anyway and concluded his remarks by stating, "We lost, by the way." The award ultimately went to Moonlight.
