Francis Luttrell (1659–1690)

Francis Luttrell of Dunster Castle in Somerset was an English politician. He sat in the House of Commons of England from 1679 to 1690 as a Member of Parliament for Minehead.
He was the second son of Francis Luttrell, and older brother of Alexander Luttrell. He succeeded his elder brother Thomas, who died at 13 in 1670, to the Dunster Castle estate.
He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford, and later held many civil and military offices in Somerset. He was a Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset from 1681 to 1687, a Deputy Lieutenant of Dorset from 1685 to 1687, and a Vice-Admiral of Somerset from 1685.
He died in 1690 aged about 31, having married Mary Tregonwell and had a son, Tregonwell and 2 daughters. His parliamentary seat was inherited by his brother Alexander, who also inherited the heavily indebted Dunster Castle estate on the early death of Tregonwell.
