Essam Hamad


Essam Hamad Salem is an Iraqi football midfielder who played for Iraq in the 2000 Asian Cup. He also played for Al-Karkh, Al-Taawun, and Al-Zawra.
He broke into the national team in early 1995. Essam was a regular during U.A.E'96, Lebanon 2000 and the Olympic qualifying campaign in 1996.
He was selected to play for an Asian All-Star team in 2000 by the AFC in the Azadi Stadium in Tehran to commemorate the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The team was managed by Khalil Ibrahim of Saudi Arabia and included Jamal Taha of Lebanon, Jordanian Badran Shaqran, Qatari keeper Mohamad Anyas, South Korean trio Hong Myung-Bo, Yoo Sang-chul and Lee Dong-Gook.
Essam captained the side in the second half and also missed a penalty as the Asian stars were beaten 5–0 by Iran.

Hamad has managed many teams, Al-Karkh, Zakho, Al-Zawraa, Al-Talaba, and is coaching Amanat Baghdad now.

Amanat Baghdad

Essam signed for Amanat Baghdad in December of the 2018-2019 season, after the leave of Thair Ahmed. Essam coached Amanat Baghdad in the second half of the 2018-2019 season. He led the team through good results. The team got the 8th place in the league. The team was struggling in the 1st round with the previous coach, but the coming of Hamad raised the challenge with good performances. In the Iraqi Cup, the team went through the quarter final the knocked out by Al-Zawraa. Essam reached to agreements with the board to stay for another season, after negotiations.
