Erbil Governorate


Erbil Governorate, sometimes referred to by the alternative spelling Arbil Governorate, is a governorate of Iraq in the Kurdistan Region. It also serves as the capital and economic hub for autonomous region of Kurdistan Region and its government.
Erbil Governorate covers an area of 15,074 km2 in the north of Iraq, with a population of 2,113,391 people. It is largely populated by Kurds but has minority populations of Turkmens, Arabs, and Assyrians.
