Emma DeGraffenreid


Emma DeGraffenreid was a black woman who sued General Motors citing discrimination on two accounts, race and sex in DeGraffenreid v. General Motors along with Brenda Hines, Alberta Chapman, Brenda Hollis and Patricia Bell, all of whom were employees of the GM plant located in St. Louis.
The case DeGraffenreid v. General Motors is often referenced by Kimberlé Crenshaw in order to illustrate the term "intersectionality".
