Emi Buendía


Emiliano Buendía Stati is an Argentine professional footballer who plays for the championship club Norwich City. Mainly an attacking midfielder, he can also play as a winger.

Club career

Getafe

Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Emi finished his formation with Getafe CF. On 30 March 2014, still a junior, he made his senior debuts, starting for the reserves in a 2–1 away win against CD Puerta Bonita for the Segunda División B championship. On 13 April he scored his first goal, the first of a 2–0 win at Peña Sport FC.
Emi started the 2014–15 season still with the B-team and in the third level, notably scoring twice in a 3–0 home success against CF Fuenlabrada. On 5 December 2014 he played his first match as a professional, replacing Ángel Lafita in a 3–0 Copa del Rey win against SD Eibar at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Emi made his La Liga debut on 1 February 2015, coming on as a late substitute in a 0–1 away loss against UD Almería. He scored his first goal in the category on 27 September, netting the second in a 3–0 home win against Levante UD.
On 5 July 2016, despite suffering team relegation, Emi signed a new five-year deal with the Madrid outskirts side. On 27 July of the following year, he was loaned to fellow second tier club Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, for one year.

Norwich City

On 8 June 2018, Emi signed a four-year deal with EFL Championship side Norwich City.
He scored his first goal for Norwich in a 1–0 win over Brentford on 27 October 2018. He continued his fine form that season scoring a thunderbolt against Swansea City, a double against Hull City. He also scored a pivotal goal against QPR, that massively boosted Norwich's title hopes.
He scored a total of 8 League goals in the season, helping Norwich to promotion to the Premier League. Fans voted him into third place in the annual Player of the Season awards.

International career

On 16 September 2014, Emi was called up to the Spain under-19s. On 29 April of the following year, he was called up by Argentina under-20s for 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and joined the latter's training camp on 5 May 2015.
