Elstree Airfield


London Elstree Aerodrome is an operational general aviation aerodrome located in Elstree, and is situated east of Watford, Hertfordshire, England.
Elstree Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee.
The aerodrome has one runway aligned roughly east-west. The runway is 2,136 feet in length making it suitable for most light aircraft up to the size of a King Air/Pilatus PC-12.

Operations

The aerodrome was returned to civil aircraft operations in 1946 and has since been used by aero clubs and private pilot owners for the basing and operation of single and twin engined light aircraft and helicopters. There is a large wartime built Bellman hangar and a number of smaller hangars.
A flight information service for arriving, departing or transiting aircraft is provided by "Elstree Information" on a frequency of 122.405 MHz.

Accidents

As of 20/11/17 internet based cost sharing platforms are prohibited from operating at Elstree Aerodrome.
Pilot's Notice 04/17 - "Montclare Shipping Company Limited as the licensee of Elstree Aerodrome hereby serves notice that with immediate effect flights utilising internet based cost sharing platforms are prohibited at Elstree."
