Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2017


The Electoral Act 2017 is a law of Ireland which provides for the current Dáil constituencies. It took effect on the dissolution of the 32nd Dáil and a general election for the 33rd Dáil took place on 8 February 2020.
This Act repealed the Electoral . It implemented the recommendations of the 2017 report of the Constituency Commission, an independent body established by the Government of Ireland to review constituency boundaries, proposed several changes to Dáil constituencies. The number number of seats in the Dáil were increased by 2 from 158 to 160, while the number of constituencies were reduced by 1 to 39.
