Ekinchi (Khwarazm Shah)

Ekinchi ibn Qochar was Khwarazm Shah for a short time before his death. Unlike the Khwarazm Shahs that succeeded him, he was not a descendant of Anushtakin Gharchai.
Following the death of Anush Tigin, Ekinchi was given the position of Khwarazm Shah by the Seljuk sultan Barkiyaruq. After a short period of time, however, he was killed by several Seljuk amirs that had risen in revolt. After he died, he was replaced with Anushtakin Gharchai's son, Qutb al-Din Muhammad.
Ekinchi literally means "farmer" or "ploughman" in Turkic languages.
