Eitan Erez


Eitan Erez, is an Israeli lawyer who became famous due to his activities in the insolvency field. He dealt inter alia in high-profile cases as the winding up of Abraham Gindi ltd. Shelev transportation cooperative, Baranovic group, Hakoach Ramat Gan football club, Kelet Afikim plywood factory, the kings hotel in Tiberias, Eli Reifman, Inbal Or and Immune pharmaceuticals and other high-profile cases.
Advocate Erez is one of a few lawyers who appeared personally in an English court of law as well as in a U.S. court and Israeli courts.

Biography

Born in Tel Aviv to a father who was an agronomist and a mother who was a social worker. As a child, he spent 2 years in Iran due to his father job there. Later lived in Holon and played football in Hapoel Holon FC as a youngster. Served in the I.D.F. in a combat unit in a surface to air missile platoon. Graduated the Tel Aviv university law faculty in 1980. Erez Worked as an associate for six years at Kossowsky-Shacor law firm in Tel Aviv.
In 1987 when being 31.5 years old, nominated liquidator of a public building firm Abraham Gindi ltd.
In his career Adv., Erez managed multiple businesses and built more than 1,000 apartments. Mr. Erez has finalized the completion of the kings' hotel in Tiberias and later rehabilitated Shaar Efraim a village with 2,000 inhabitants who ran into insolvency after accumulating debts of 100 million N.I.S.
Adv. Erez heads the Eitan s. Erez & Co. law firm who specializes in complicated civil litigation and insolvency.
During his career Adv, Erez created numerous precedents in the Israeli Supreme Court. Some examples of the precedents:
Creating a possibility to ask evacuation of premises within an insolvency file, obligating a liquidator to pay court fee, payment of severance pay to a professional football player, making it possible to foreclose a "player ticket" of a professional athlete in his club, incarcerating a bankrupt for disobeying a decree to transfer his shares in a company.
In 1999-2003 was a member of a governmental committee who approves nominations in public companies and institutions.
In 2001-2002 Eitan Erez headed a Non-governmental organization which helped the victims of the Dolphinarium discotheque massacre.
In 2002-2007 chaired the organizing committee of the Israeli lawyers bar association annual congress in Eilat.
In 2007-2015 served as vice president of the Israeli lawyers bar association.
Till 2018 chaired the anti-fraud-forum of INSOL-Europe.
Currently member of the board in the economical company of the Israeli lawyers bar.

Other Activities

Erez is also the author of the book "''a lawyer & a gentleman".
In May 2017 Erez founded a Non-governmental organization named "INTEGRITY FOR ISRAEL" which fights corruption.
Erez Lives in northern Tel Aviv with his wife and has four children.
