History

The first church in Eide was probably a stave church that was built before the year 1349. At some point during the 17th century it was torn down and replaced with a second church. Not much is known about that church. It was torn down in 1795 and it was replaced with the present church. The present timber-framed church was put into use in 1795, but was not officially considered completed until 1806.
