Eduard Ausfeld


Heinrich Eduard Ausfeld was a German archivist and historian.
Following studies at several German universities, he obtained his doctorate in 1880 at the University of Marburg. Subsequently he worked at the Staatsarchiv in Idstein, Wiesbaden, Koblenz and Magdeburg. In 1898 he succeeded George Adalbert von Mülverstedt as director of archives at Magdeburg. In Magdeburg he took part in plans for construction of a new archives building on Augustastraße, which first opened for business in 1908, two years after his death.
Ausfeld was a member of the Historischen Kommission für die Provinz Sachsen und das Herzogtum Anhalt and the Geschichtsverein und dem Verein für Nassauische Altertumskunde und Geschichte.
