Stephan Allen, known professionally as Dutchavelli, is a British rapper from London. He rapidly rose to fame after his 2020 single 'I Dunno' collaboration with Stormzy and Tion Wayne. The single peaked at number 7 on the singles chart.

Early and personal life

Allen was born in Birmingham, England. He spent a part of his childhood living in Rotterdam, Netherlands with his family. He is the younger brother of rapper and singer Stefflon Don. He is of Jamaican descent.

Legal issues

In November 2019, Allen and two assailants denied robbing a man and a woman of a mobile phone, watches and cash in Yalding, Kent in March 2018. Allen was given a 22-month jail sentence for perverting the course of justice after trying to persuade someone to not give any evidence. However, as Allen had served time on remand, he was immediately released.

Music career

His single 'I Dunno' was not his first collaboration with big artists. In 2016, he was featured on Sevn Alias's single "My Man" which was also first official release and was distributed with Sony Music. Dutchavelli made his first mainstream single in 2020, titled "Only If You Knew". The official video on GRM Daily now has over 11 million views, it is thought that this breakthrough helped him get attention from British rapper, Stormzy who later went on to make a song together with Tion Wayne and peaked at number 7 on the singles chart. In January of 2020, Dutchavelli was interviewd about his single "Only If You Knew" on BBC Radio 1Xtra.
